"I have chosen to live at Lincoln Park Manor twice. The first time was for recuperation. I fell and my left leg wouldn't hold me, so I came here for therapy. I stayed six weeks and walked home. When my sight became a problem, I had trouble giving myself insulin and I was falling a lot. So I moved back here. I brought my own furniture and the things that are special to me. This is my home now.

The staff makes all the difference. They know me. When a nursing assistant returns from several days off, she comes to me and asks how I have been while she was gone. You get tender, loving care here. Though I had lived alone since my husband died, I now like having people around who care about me and know me.

Since I can manage most things by myself, I dress and make my bed, but I don't have to worry about housecleaning or cooking. If I need help with anything, even a zipper, I have it. When I see the residents on the nursing side who can't do for themselves, I notice they are always clean and happy. The staff treats them with the same respect I receive. It gives me comfort to know that if I ever need more help, I will be taken care of in the same way.

I know that if I need it, I'll have priority admission to the Nursing side of the facility."
