Skilled Nursing Care

Hospital stay covering 3 midnights
is required for Medicare to pay for skilled nursing. Some managed
care firms will waive this requirement.

Medicare coverage:
Days 1-20 are 100% covered by Medicare Part A and most private
insurance companies.
Days 21-100 Medicare requires a co-payment from the resident.
Most supplemental insurances will cover the co-pay portion.

Managed Care or HMO's may cover all
expenses for pre-authorized stays.
