Communication
and understanding are vital to everyone's peace of mind. |
The
proper balance of compassion and health care for each resident
involves looking for the best solution to each situation. When
a resident is upset, disturbed, or agitated, we first look for
the reasons. Is the resident feeling lost or afraid? Thirsty
or hungry? Does the resident need to use the restroom? Will
a walk, backrub or holding the resident's hand help?
We believe that independence is the key to emotional dignity
and self-esteem, regardless of age. Working in interdisciplinary
teams, we call on all our professionals to give residents the
strength, and sometimes the courage, to live at their highest
possible levels. As residents reach these levels, they also
regain their smile and friendly disposition. Residents often
learn to walk again. We are never surprised when someone who
had given up moves back home.
At Lincoln Park Manor a resident receives the individualized
help he or she needs to cope with the special physical, social
and emotional challenges facing them at this time.
Communication and understanding are vital to everyone's peace
of mind. We face difficult questions with residents and their
families. Our concern is always "What will best serve the
resident?"
